In this video we have presented our game idea which is initially of the shoot em up genre. We decided to make our game have a deeper meaning, as the main symbolism of Revolution 3 is Anti-Capitlism. We focused on a character going against the system and taking revenge on the rich people in narrative town. We set our game in a shopping centre, which we then split up into 3 different levels. Each level consisted of something diverse to one another. For example, the first level is a car park. This is essentially the entrance to the game and where gameplay begins. The second level is the main shopping floor, which consists of an array of different stores which the player will find the subjects who he will be ordered to kill. The third and final floor is the food court. This will be where the game ends if the player completely finishes the first and second level.
Conditions: The conditions set in our game are generally to kill as many rich people as you can. Where the game becomes difficult is avoiding the innocent people and completing the level without causing them any harm to stand-byers. If the wrong person is shot, you are taken back to the beginning of the level you are on. Completing a level will take you to the next, where the difficulty will increase. As well as having to efficiently kill the correct people, it has to be done within a certain amount of time as there is a timer in the corner of the screen informing you how much time you have left. If you fail to finish the level, you are taken back to the beginning of it; but if you complete it before the time in question, you are rewarded with extra time on the next level you are on which helps with the increasing difficulty of the game.
Actions: Although the character is mainly walking through the game, you have the option to make the character run and jump if desired. This allows the game to go faster and complete the levels in a shorter amount of time. The character can do fast run-by shootings and progress to the second floor without being caught by the security guards who are essentially there to catch the character and detain him before his causes anymore disruption in the shopping centre. The security guards can be avoided by spotting them early and taking them out (attacking them) without them being able to signal anything is going on. If the player collects enough medals for killing a certain amount of people in a specific time frame, they can be used as money and buy new weapons, buy clothes or even eat. Throughout the game, the energy and health of the character will decrease and increase. This is due to the collection of 'up-healths' and 'energy ups' which hide within the game and can help the character survive longer, run faster and in the long run, add to the final score of the game.
Symbolism: The symbolic meaning behind this game focuses on anti-capitalism. We have reflected this throughout the game by using a contrasting array of characters, who are either rich or poor. This is the central focus of the game as the rich people are essentially the antagonists and the main character who is out to kill them is the protagonist. The idea of this massively expensive shopping centre being based in a run-down town where the poverty level is high adds to the idea of this angry communist character raging out against the rich people which go there.
