Unedited Freewriting & Reflection of TASK 4

Freewriting ideas - Windsorian Battle, Level 1

Introduced via cut scene; shot of grand gold gate opening and pink rose petals being thrown in front of the shot. Move inwards into opening church/castle doors where characters stand holding hands, look dreamily in love. Time passes unnaturally fast (skips to night time), sun turns into moon - time passes by on clock fast. Transformation of characters and anger from characters as they do not know what is happening. Test powers out, fire and ice is shot out from dragon/mythical creature's mouth.
Game play in action - player able to move character around, figure the controls etc (trial period, amateur mode). Practice mode automatically selected, helps player learn how they could defeat the evil - how their characters act, introduces them to character more (insight). First level approached, turns midnight once again, Dark Forces surround castle beaming down electricity and light pulses destroying buildings, causing destruction, bright orbs, reds, oranges, purples etc. Stars and galaxies can be seen behind Dark Forces, which are dark cloud creatures hovering in the sky, floating and swaying. Character(s) begin to panic, realize that now midnight is about to approach they can fight these demons away - characters crash through windows of Castle, run up and against buildings to reach a height where they can destroy the core point of beams which are causing destruction. Beams are smashed, one by one Dark Forces are destroyed - See them fall and puff into ash/dust. More are summoned and difficulty increases. Characters must reach Chancellor's Tower in order to get to the microscope - microscope used to view where the power points are within beams, where creatures need to hit in order to kill all Dark Forces (Killing the mother Dark Force). This fails, only kills a few thousand, roaming the castle to find points which have items they can use to their devices. Next Level is entered once they follow the map round to the red velvet road.

Reflection of task

My ideas for Windsorian Battle have developed by exploring how my characters will function and what their characteristics will be. Giving them characteristics and functions which are relevant to their purpose in the game is important so the game doesn't look unprofessional and careless. Although saying this, I have used some unconventional characteristics for my characters, such as the colours they wear, how they look and what their powers are. When done the right way I feel this can give games a modern twist, as you don't usually see a game portraying Royalty in a sinister manner while also using them for good. My sketches helped me visualize how the characters would look within the game advancing me to be able to think about how they move as I then knew what I would be focusing - such as expressions of my characters, their traits, personality (of course looks) and how they'd fit in with the scenery/location.  Having the storyline outline is important so I have a clear idea of my game without contemplation or indecision. The free writing helped me change a few parts of my storyline as my ideas were more unusual/creative when thinking without pressuring myself. This contributed to my finished storyline.
